Glossary of Terms Often Used in AdCenter

ad graphic
An image, usually in the .jpg, .gif or .swf file format, is also called the ad unit or media unit, depending on context. The width and height of the ad graphic is specified in pixels and must match the parameters described for the associated unit name when ordering an ad campaign.

AdCenter
A suite of applications developed by Craig Richards LLC and licensed by FilmOregon.org that permits advertisers to create and manage their own advertising campaigns.

AdTrax
A suite of applications that permits advertisers to monitor in realtime (up to the second) the success of their current and past advertising campaigns. Reports include the ad campaign's status, quantity of impressions purchased, the quantity of impressions delivered, the quantity of times a visitor has clicked on the ad, and the clickthru ratio (a percentage value based on the quantity of ads delivered divided by the number of clicks).

advertising
A method of communicating your message – often short, direct and with a call to action – via print, broadcast, internet, or other media. Advertising's usual objectives are to build or reinforce your brand image or to stimulate leads that result in sales.

cpm
Cost per thousand impressions is a convenient way for advertisers to compare various rates for their advertising purchasing decision. The CPM rate, divided by 1,000, times the total impressions you buy equals the total cost for your ad campaign.

daily frequency
The number of times per day your advertisement is delivered. The total impressions you buy divided by the number of days you set for your ad campaign equals your daily frequency.

impression
One impression is recorded when your advertisement is delivered within a webpage.

roi
Return on investment is the combined direct and indirect value returned to you for your advertising investment. The direct ROI is offer-directed advertising that results in sales, while indirect ROI is branding that results in an increased value of your products, services and/or company.

ros
Run of site advertising is an ad position that appears on most or all pages of a publisher's website. Run of site advertising usually rotates delivery of ad units from a queue of all advertisers who have bought that same position.

rotation
Advertising for most positions at FamilyReunion.com deliver advertising from a queue in which all advertisers who have bought that position are combined into a randomized sort order.

unit name
Standardized by the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB), unit names are a convenient way to identify each of the common sizes of ads produced for online advertising. By standardizing their dimensions, ad graphics you create for an ad campaign on one website may often be used for an ad campaign on another website.
